Where’s Tokyo?

Tokyo is undoubtedly Japan’s most famous city, so it doesn’t need much of a presentation (we’ve already told you about Tokyo on the web). Without a doubt, it must be an essential part of your trip to Japan.

Tokyo is located about 350 kilometers east of Gero, in the Kanto region. Visit our map of Japan to see it in more detail.

What’s the best way to get from Gero to Tokyo?

Undoubtedly the fastest way to get from Gero to Tokyo (not counting the private car) is by train, as other means such as the bus take about twice as long.

The first thing you should do is, at Gero Station, take the Ltd line. Exp. (wide view) Hida to Nagoya station. This tour lasts about 1 hour and 50 minutes, but the good thing is that, especially the first part, is a trip between mountains really beautiful.

Once at Nagoya Station, go to the shinkansen train area and take a shinkansen train to Tokyo. This route is very crowded so there are trains every few minutes. It will take between 1 hour and 35 minutes and 1 hour and 45 minutes depending on whether you take a Nozomi or a Hikari train respectively (remember that if you go with the JR Pass you cannot take the Nozomi trains).
