You may be surprised by our statement about Thailand, but after visiting it several times, we can’t get enough of it to say that we love Thailand.
Almost 14 years ago, when we first arrived there, we were incredibly surprised at how easy it was to travel around Thailand as a backpacker. It is an economic country, with a spectacular culture and gastronomy, not to mention its landscapes, which go far beyond its beautiful beaches. And as if that were not enough, all this is supported by the kindness of its inhabitants. Come on, Thailand’s cool, that’s for sure!
Of course, on our map of Thailand, we could not miss its capital, Bangkok. It’s a city where you can find everything… From the tranquility of a boat ride on the Chao Praya, to the madness of Khao San Road, where bars and people with a desire to have fun are concentrated almost equally. Very close to Khao San Gosi and I stayed the first few times we visited Bangkok, in a nearby street, Rambuttri, full of accommodation options for backpackers.
You cannot leave Bangkok without visiting the Wat Pho and Wat Arun temples, the Emerald Buddha temple and of course the Grand Palace. Although the capital of Thailand still has many more places to go: Fancy shopping malls, local Thai food markets and other markets.

If you want to continue your journey by taking a route through the north of Thailand, there is nothing like a walk through the floating market of Damnoern Saduak, and then visit Kanchanaburi, where you can pass by the bridge over the river Kwai, the one from the Oscar-winning film of 1957.
Continuing with this map of Thailand, in the north of the country are a must visit Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Sukhothai or Ayuthaya … Its temples as well as its landscapes, will leave you speechless.

Beaches of Thailand
Far from the north of Thailand are its beaches. Who is capable of paying a visit to Thailand and not going to at least one of them? Its beaches can be divided into those in the east and those in the west of Thailand.
It’s hard to choose just one of them, but every beach has its own audience. In the west, Phuket is for those who like a bit of hustle and bustle. It is the largest island in Thailand and where a high number of tourists are concentrated. Therefore, there you will find a varied offer of both gastronomy and hotels. Kho Phi Phi would be a paradise if it weren’t for the fact that it is so touristy that it is mission impossible to take a photograph without people in the background. And the Krabi area, Ao Nang and Railay Beach are great places to enjoy the climate and the area.
In the east of this map of Thailand, you will see islands like Koh Tao, known for being one of the cheapest to learn to dive, also Koh Lipe or Kho Pha Ngan are paradises for it and finally, Kho Samui quieter but equally beautiful.
