Let’s talk about the Cliffs of Moher

The rock formations of these cliffs rise to a height of 214 meters at their highest point and extend along 8 kilometers of coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. Its formation dates back to about 320 million years ago, when this area was located around the mouth of the great river that dragged mud and sediments and deposited there, where they ended up settling and forming the layers of rock that we see today.

On clear days, from there you can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay or the Maum Turk Mountains in Connemara.

Moher Cliffs are also home to Ireland’s largest colony of birds and are home to 20 different species of birds, soon said to be nesting. So if you are a nature lover, you are going to enjoy like a dwarf visiting the Cliffs of Moher.

How to get to the Cliffs of Moher

Located on the west coast of Ireland, about 3 hours from Dublin, the capital of Ireland, reaching the Cliffs of Moher is tremendously simple. You only have to get to Doolin if you are going from the north or to Liscanor if you are going from the north and from there follow the signs. No loss 😉

If, like us, you buy your ticket when the cliffs arrive, you will pay 8 euros per person, which you will be charged just before entering the car park where you can leave your car while visiting the cliffs. The entrance gives you the right to visit the cliffs for as long as you like and also to enter the visitor centre and its exhibition.

If you buy the ticket online you can save a lot, for example, buying it here costs half as much as if you wait like us and buy it directly on arrival.

Don’t forget that the best way to get money or pay abroad are travel cards, your best allies to save the most on your travels. In this post we review the most important, we tell you their advantages and disadvantages and put at your disposal all the discounts and offers we have achieved for you 😉 For example, if you order your Bnext card through our link and recharge 25 euros, you get another 10. We use it a lot to get money when we arrive at the destination. For its part, the N26 card is the best option to pay when you travel.

We have read a LOTS of ‘tricks’ to not pay (or pay less) for the visit to the Cliffs, but among which some seem dangerous and others a little abusive, our recommendation is that you pay what the entrance costs, which does not seem so much to us and also helps the conservation of this wonder of nature. Please, always responsible tourism 😉
